Well, inexpensive white canvas sneakers like Keds are nice and easy for painting. If you are only going to wear them occasionally, you can use good quality acrylic paint, otherwise, use either thinned oil paint or printable transfer.

Practice on a blank piece of canvas first, because they take paint similar to canvas sneakers. Then draw the pattern out first with a pencil (it's not necessary to prime them, because you don't want to wear shoes that can't breath.) Then take a large amount of paint with your brush to ensure good covering.

You can also use printable transfers for intrcate pattens.

1) Draw your design outline and sand the spot where you want it.
2) Fill in the spot with diluted Gesso.
3) sand it flat and reapply a layer of Gesso.
4) Use any paint you feel comfortable with to paint your design.
5) Use the appropriate varnish to protect your work when it is completely dry.
