If there isn't then one needs to be started. A great community gathering spot are community gardens and programs devoted to helping people learn how to garden to offset the high cost of food. Interesting story; I joined the Army and went to Germany on my first tour in 1978.The bus took us out of Frankfurt and upon leaving the city I saw huge areas of small plots and little tiny shacks in areas set up in 3 meter by 3 meter plots (10X10 foot or 10X20 foot). I thought to myself "God, some of these people must be so poor! Those houses are to small to lie down in!" After being there a while I discovered that gardening is a national past time and I really had a good laugh on myself. When I went back for another 2 year tour in 1982 I was on the bus I remember a new recruit saying out loud "Oh my God, they are sooooo Poor!" and I really laughed.
We take it for granted here where I live in the US that the garden is something everyone can have. In some places, like the really built up areas of some European cities, and other spots I'm sure, land is such a premium that gardens are frequently had only by driving out to the edge of town, and there is a sunny little green spot for you to putter around in and then chill in your chair with a cold drink.
As a post script, contact the agricultural extention agent in your community and ask them, they should know.

I have lived in Ventura County most of my life and have never heard of CSAs here. I know there are community gardens in LA, Santa Monica and San Francisco, though. I guess Ventura County is still agricultural enough and has enough open space that residents haven't gotten their act together for condo and apartment dwellers to have their own patch of dirt to dig up.
