I'd go for being hurt. While I'm comfortable in my own skin, there's no life in not taking risks. You take risks, and you're not going to win every time. It's exactly like gambling.

To stay alone, you ARE hurt. It's just a slower fuse--but it's still a fuse. You're hiding. You're so afraid of being hurt, you hide from the opportunity to be loved. So instead of allowing someone else to hurt you, you're hurting yourself. It's like you're honoring the last person who hurt you. There's no point in that.

As far as anyone knows for sure, we only go through life once. Don't just exist--thrive!

If being alone doesn't hurt sure but chances are that's not the case.
To be successful at being alone you have to find other interest instead of things that require two people. I've always been a bookworm and I enjoy learning, these are things best done alone.

Sometimes. But sometimes being alone hurts. It depends. I assume that you are talking about having or not having a significant other. Some of it depends on age and experience. After a few years and a few tries people often decide to be ''without'' for the most part. They get tired of all the hassles that come with ''new families and mates'' But if you are young don't give up, just be careful who you give your heart to. It is possible to find the right person. Just make sure that you don't settle for less.

Although the easy answer would be, yea just be alone. The truth is that being hurt by others actually makes you a stronger and more confident person. It really really helps you build character and gives you a more realistic outlook on life. It helps you be more aware of what you are looking for in a friend and partner. Don't be alone. And no matter what happens, don't EVER EVER feel sorry for yourself, because no one else ever will.

NO! What is the point in living? "It's not good for man to be alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (You know where that quote came from?)

I would rather like to say that I have loved then to NOT have loved at all. I would rather be able to say that I have been hurt then to NOT have known what being hurt feels like. I can truly say that I have lived my life............. and if I die today, I have lived. Not moving forward is the most cowardly act of all mankind.

Live and experience life!!!!!!!!

I thought of that a lot, to the level that I sometimes think of living in a house/cottoge or anything like that far away from people... but then again, no man is an island, and people are meant to be with people.

Just hang in there, things will get better.

Peace.

Sometimes I feel that way too. I do like to keep my friends around me at least for emotional support. Even though we can all be hurt at times, my focus is to not be the one who is hurting another.

It seems safer, and there are a great many advantages to solitude, but to choose to be alone in order to avoid being hurt is a mistake.

Yes, it is. I'd rather be alone than be in pain and misery in a relationship.

That doesn't mean I don't one day hope to find someone. Just I don't want to get hurt.

The saying goes "better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all".

But I suppose if the love goes sour and becomes a source of misery then yes, it would've been better if the whole situation had been avoided.
