When it was found out and proven that the Pearl of Great Price was just a dead sea scroll that contained some burial ritual (Rather than the Book of Abraham like Joseph Smith Claimed), does it make you wonder if some of Joe's other books were made up too? Or do you just ignore it because the Profit of Gawd told you not to listen to those anti-Mormon scientists?

One LDS Egyptologist Dr Stephen Thompson has expressed his doubts regarding Joseph Smith and The Book of Abraham. He provides three reasons why.

1. Joseph Smiths' translation is not in agreement with Modern Egyptologists interpretations.

2. Anachronisms make it imposseble for it to have been written by Abraham.

3. Modern understanding of Egypt’s relation to Asia makes it very unlikely that it has anything to do with a sacrifice.

LDS apologists are desperate to make the science fit, “Nothing that's been written from an apologetic point of view comes close to it in accuracy”. DR. Stephen Thompson.

You see what happens is; LDS apologists say one thing, are not taken seriously by the outside scholarly community, but are believed by LDS members.

You are being deceptive. The historical New Testament manuscripts whilst in comparison to extra up to date manuscripts confirmed that the more recent ones did have a couple of interpolations (that didn't influence doctrine incidentally) and a quantity of spelling errors. However, all trendy translation of the New Testament are founded at the oldest manuscripts and trendy scholarship indicates that they're secure and real to a measure of ninety nine.five% or greater. That is the well factor approximately having manuscript proof, it enables for one to research and furnish proof in their claims alternatively of seeking to break out with pronouncing some thing they prefer. The identical can not be mentioned approximately Mormonism because the Mormons themselves admit that nearly in their fashioned manuscripts had been taken away by means of the angel Morini. Interesting, some of the meant manuscripts that shaped materials of the Book of Abraham within the Pearl of Great Price were learned. Modern research has proven unequivocally that the phrases of the Book of Abraham haven't any correlation whatever to these discovered within the Egyptian papyri on which the interpretation of Joseph Smith was once supposedly founded. This attracts into query Smith's capability to translate historical languages and shows that a minimum of with the Pearl of Great Price he was once committing a fraud. To make concerns worse, stylometric experiences exhibit with a prime measure of sure bet that the writer of the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham are the identical character.

Well, problem with your question is the assumption that anything was proven to be made up. You have facts that are clearly wrong with it.

First, the papyra is not one of the dead sea scrolls. Those are completely different things.

Second, we only have part of the papyra. The Papyra the witnesses say was translated had significant characteristics that are missing from the fragments we do have. Unfortunately, the papyra that was probrably the source of the translation was likely destroyed in the famous Chicago Fire.

Third, The translated text we do have is quite interesting considering some recent discoveries among the Dead Sea scrolls concerning the life of Abraham and his teachings. In fact, they beg the serious question that if Joseph Smith made it all up, how the heck did he include things that are not in the Bible, but which are found in texts recently discovered concerning Abraham and his ministry.

Of course, my answers assume you really want to know the truth. Your question implies that you dont really care, and you are just trying to stir up trouble. Unfortunately for you, informed people aren't deceived so easily.

I'm not too much with details, but here is my take.

As a long time LDS, I read the "words" that the Prophet Joseph Smith translated, and I accept it as truth, because it is good. Simply "GOOD"

Good means, teaching people to be righteous, bringing people closer to Jesus Christ, and loving your neighbor

Pity, you and others like you cannot see that, and continuely picking on matters and even make up accusations that hardly mean much.

It's all a lie and a hoax. It's so obvious to the outsiders, even the crazy Christians know it's a joke. I wonder why the mormons can't see it. I'm just glad to hear there are more people getting out of it.
