I went to the doctor yesterday and found out I have an ear infection. He gave me Zithromax, which I started last night. I thought I was feeling better but today it's been on and off miserable...I can't stand to talk on the phone and feel like I am underwater. When can I expect to feel better? Usually anibiotics start kicking stuff right away!

call the doctor who prescribed the meds. antibiotics usually take 24-48 hrs to start working and they need to be completely finished.

You've got to give it a chance. You are on it for one day only. I believe Zithromax is a seven day treatment but works in your body for 10 days. Seee how you are in another 5 days. If you're not feeling better by then, let your doctor know. an ear infection needs time to clear up. Take it exactly as the directions say. bettyk

It takes at least 24 hours before the antibiotics really start to work. You should start feeling better soon but if you don't then go back to the doc as you may need ear drops too.

I hope the medicines generally take 72 hours before it starts controlling your problems.
But as a alternative natural medication you could try with urine therapy. Just put few drops may be 3 or 4 in your ears of ther first urine of the day passed by you.
I hope you will get well soon and you may not trigger the same problem again atleast in the near future.

epending on the severity of the ear infection it may take two Z-paks before the infection completely goes away.
