I have been haveing alot of debate with many different people and was wondering what the general public thinks. Is the ford escape a manly, girly or gender neutral car?

The Escape has been re-styled with a new higher 'belt-line' & a much more 'agressive' looking front-end & grill.....not the least bit girly! In fact i think it looks much like the Explorers little Brother!
Here's a downloadable brochure of the new 2008 Escape

Now here's a 2007 Explorer brochure:

See what I mean?

(of course the color could make it more feminine.....that light blue is just a little 'girlie' looking...LOL )

In my opnion, it's just like the explorer was back when it first came out (Hell, it's pretty much the same size) and they're pretty gender neutral. And seeing the fact that I see more men driving Escape's/Maverick's than women, leads me to think it's more of a manly car, but since it's not 'macho' like a Mustang or F-Series, people don't think the same. But, it has the same features as most SUV's. Cargo space, 4-Wheel Drive, and some extras such as good fuel economy.

Now, in the case of the Mariner (The Mercury Counterpart) that IS a girly car. I have 2 fact that back me up on this: 1) Ford human resource department is specifically marketing this vehicle to women ages 25-55. The commercials are on in the evening when most of this age group is watching. 2) More women purchase this vehicle than any other Compact SUV. And this is according to the Ford sales department.

Why Ford? Get a Nissan, the Altima Coupe looks sporty and gets about 32 miles to the gallon, and yes the ford escape is a girly car.

Being of one of the older crowd,,,and VERY Conservative, I would not say Girly. Times have changed and down sized SUV's make more sense to all. Yes, I like the newer ones also. As for the Stupid answer about diesel..get the Tree Huggers to get "Their Head out of their ***" to get a balance between emmissions for Diesels that are 30% more efficient than Gas and California emmissions. The we can forget the fad of Hybrids until Nuclear makes hydrogen power practical. There is the problem, not FORD.....and I am a GM man...sorry.

I think it looks very masculine. The 08 Escape looks more masculine than the 07's and back. Just don't get a girly colored one and you're fine.

I would say mutual. I've actually driven two of them and consider them quite nice and fuel efficient. They have a 'girl appeal' to them because of the simple fact that it's a smaller SUV. In a few years a family member of mine is selling their 2007 (only because she has to have a new vehicle once every two years) and I would consider purchasing it but there's only one problem. It's not 4x4. I would never purchase a truck or SUV without it being 4x4, but that's just me.

It's a chick car. BUT, I would not minding one if Ford pulled it's head out of it's butt and offered a diesel in the America.

Is it reliable?
If so, who cares?
It gets you where you're going.
If it isn't, then probably a girl car. Or at least a girl had owned it at one time or another
