Victory is truly possible, for losing is not an option, Think what is at stake, not just the obvious but our global might as a nation, the last major conflict in which the US was involved in was a stain on are record of kick a$$ and taking names. If we cannot beat cowards that hide amongst women and children, what does that say to conventional armys such as China and Russia?
The generals on the ground in Iraq, know what is need to win and if congress will simple give the general the freedom to operate with out hindrance, victory would come soon verses later. One thing I recall hearing from people of the Vietnam era, was that one of major reasons for the outcome was the micro-management of the war effort, by congress and the White House. So, I pray that this does not occur.
In closing, the simple fact is that we must control the ground, in the capital, to allow the Iraqis to develop a structure to enforce to rule of law, then slow withdraw from the area. First, as a manager, the as a director, then only in an adviser role. To get to this point we must weed out the bad guys. Personal , I would build the troops to a level where that we are capable of door to door, section by section, like a census, once we reach this levels, then I would tell the populous then to relocate of a period of time heard them through check points, then clear the sector, door by door, capture all the know evildoers and their weapons. After the round up, allow the people back to their homes, and patrol the sector like NYC a Service squad on every corner, repeat this process until the city is clear. Then suppress the isolate act of violent, and keep the presents there until the people are ready to do it themselves.
Basically, what the generals are do right now.

The last objective is to give the newly formed government a chance to work. That's basically happening as more providences are turned over to Iraq's government. There are many country's in the world that have the same stability problem including Mexico, The Phillipines and Columbia. I think the allies are in a posision to have all the providences turne dover to Iraq's government by May of next year.

Our new Veterans is what matters most in this debate;
Hey it is Flag Day think of our troops!
Since our society will never have to have war rationing’s again; a few mental health professionals are donating their office and a few hours a month to some of our young veterans. These are fine professional doctors who realize our new veteran’s only need their expertise until the VA medical centers are properly funded enough to step into the 21st century. Several law firms in Washington, DC have offered their time, pro bono to help our new veterans through this slow broken system. Every time you see our flag think of what you can do to help. Our local colleges can even help by offering in their paralegal courses a four credit class on "veteran benefits law". Look at our flag and do something for those who have sacrificed so much to protect. Many are still fighting a war to just receive proper medical treatment

Ain't it just so crazy! We begin a war in Iraq (stupidly) and now that everything is screwed up I see no agreement with the puppet government to take things in its own hands (like it could do anything) and serve Iraq.
Then the US (doesn't ) Democrats keep pushing to get out of Iraq with no clear plan on how to do so. Running from a war within a war is just so unhealthy. What do we do for the millions of Iraqis we said we will help? Toss that out for help.
It's about time the Americans realized they have a great debt to be paid to the Iraqis for the disaster they have caused for the people of Iraq. It is insane to let the US carry on like it does..

Sadly, no. We are involved in a classical low-intensity insurgency, and the situation is vastly complicated by the presence of multiple factions quite willing to slaughter each other (and us) in their bid for power. Add to this the fact that we are not only involved in another country's civil conflict, we are involved in the absolute worst-case type of civil conflict...religious. Dust off your history books and check into the 30 years war for a taste of just how well that sort of things worked out for Christians.

The USA is there for 30 years worth of oil at fire sale (conqueror spoils) prices.
The objective is to stay for the oil production, not "win" and leave.
The Green Zone is being built into a US Embassy the size of the Vatican.
Huge military bases under construction support the
administration's intention to stay for decades.

the US was hated before - I don't think it has been made any worse - better actually the terroists have seen what we (the axis of good...lol) can and will do to them if they are stupid enough to beleive their own propoganda..
Just ask sadam - oh wait you can't as he is dead..
ask osama - no you can't he is dead, badly wounded or in hiding as we will kill him if we find him
beford iraq and afganistan those crazies could actually beleive they were the strong horse (according to one of osama's videos I think..) but it has been shown that maybe they should have tried to improve themseves before they tried to impose their own god given ideas... they sort of have found out whose god in stronger... or maybe I shoul d say whose cause or will or firepower is stronger as I don't beleive there is a god
