There's a lot of information out there and not all of it is good for decision-making.

Also, you have a very broad topic. I am going to take you fairly literally and assume you are interested in legal as well as illegal immigration. The Immigration and Naturalization Service does keep statistics on who has immigrated legally and who has been granted citizenship.

The problem with anything on illegal immigration is that most of the numbers you get regarding it are estimates. They could be good estimates, but they are somewhat imprecise. I don't think anyone knows for sure just how many people have illegally entered the U.S. or overstayed visas.

The Border Patrol may have some good statistics on illegal immigration. You might also try contacting the two U.S. Senators from Texas, both of whom are very interested in legal and illegal immigration. They are Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn. If they don't have statistics they can probably refer you to someone who does.

Both Hutchison and Cornyn are on record as opposing amnesty for illegal aliens. The main problem I have with amnesty is finding a good definition of just what is amnesty.

The previous answerers have given you some good suggested sources. I would pursue them.

I couldn't get the link to work. But you can google that name and it comes up.
