I have been stung 3 times and each time the reaction is worse. Last time my hand swelled up to the size of a large potato and the swelling traveled half way to my elbow. It lasted for a week.
I don't think I am allergic because my friend who is gets breathing problems when she is stung. Could I be developing an allergy?

well there are diffrents levels of allergies to anything and to bees, some people like your friends are anaphylaxis, where their throat starts to close and they struggle to breathe, while others the body part that was stung just swells whiich can also be dangerous depending on the size of sweeling (if becomes tremendous can cut off blood circulation) so you might have an allergy to bee stings but its diffrent than your friend

This is an allergy to bee stings, trust me. Allergic reactions come in many different forms, some have swelling in the area, others may have breathing problems and many will have both swelling and breathing problems.
You should see your doctor tell him what has happened. Allergies can get worse, every time you get stung you run the risk of having a serious reaction and the risk of death.

Your reactions will probably get stronger ever everytime you're stung until you do have breathing problems like your friend. The next time you're in for a checkup you should mention it to your doctor, maybe you should be carrying something with you to treat an allergic reaction to a bee sting. If you are think you'll get stung on a regular basis you should take the initiative to contact your doctor.

I am allergic to bee stings and I only get the swelling. My cousin on the other hand who is also allergic to bee stings has breathing problems when she gets stung, but that is only because she has asthma.

differant people react differant ways to each allergen. Some may sneeze during hay fever season, while others may have to stay totally indoors. If each sting is getting a larger reaction, I would begin to avoid getting stung or at least carry benedryl with you to take immediately. Why wait to see if this is going to be the "bad" one ?

I am mildly allergic to bees, you get stung only 1 to know. If it swelled up that bad, you're allegic. Your friend just has diiferent sypmtoms. Just in case, see your doctor.
P.S. Use ice on your stings, it numbs it.

Good Luck,

Clipper

you already have an allergy to the sting, the massive swelling indicates that, and you could have the same reaction your friend does at any time. I suggest you see a doctor and get a prescription for an epi-pen, it could save your life.
