My husband passed away just under 2 weeks ago and I am trying to choose a tattoo that will be beautiful but still represent him. I have thought of getting one of the praying hands with his full name and year of birth and death, or one with his zodiac sign in the center with his name some how around it...but Im still looking for an idea...anyone have any ideas?

what was he interested in? you should get something that would represent him, or something that makes sense between the two of you. something original that would stand out about him. maybe his name with angel wings?

i think you should wait. with time comes clarity and inspiration. memorial tattoos are a very special thing and there are tons of things that you could get, some better than others. it would be best for you to research different types of tattoos AND different artists and find something that you'll love. in my experience you just KNOW when the tattoo is the right one for you.

you could get a cross
a portrait (i would only suggest that if you have an extremely talented tatttoo artist)
you could get a personal tattoo that reminds you specifically of him. for instance if my husband passed i would get a tattoo of a chicken, because he likes chickens and thinks they are funny. it wouldn't "seem" like a memorial tattoo to anybody but you but it would be so much more personal than some traditional style memorial.

good luck. i hope you are able to get something that you will love having forever. if you need help finding an artist in your area i'd be glad to help.

Something with meaning huh? Well how can a load of strangers give you ideas that are meaningful to you? Only you can decide what is meaningful, to some people their butterfly tattoos are deeply meaningful, it's just not your taste, that's all. Sorry but this is something you have to research and decide for yourself.

Did he have a hobby, something he loved to do?

Everyone's done the religious theme and zodiac stuff, but the best memorial tattoo I was ever saw was of a girl's father. I loved to grow his own vegetables, and so she has symbols of harvest in the tattoo. It was unique and personal.

If you are religious, why don't you get praying hands with his name and year of birth and death below in beautiful script. And above the praying hands, a dove flying up from the fingertips towards a sun breaking through the clouds. Not only will it be symbolizing his soul flying up to heaven, but also the fact that even though it's a hardship and very grievious for you, that you can overcome this pain through your relationship and faith in God. I think it will be beautiful and symbolic. I am sorry for your loss.

How about his initials tattood on your inner wrist.
That way you will see it all the time and it will be very special.

Take your time and choose a really pretty font that you like. I have my boyfriends first-name initial on my right inner wrist. It's in beautiful swirly writing. It's simple, pure and it means a lot.

Do you believe in angels ?? How about an angel releasing a Dove (s) into the sky. The angel has a ribbon wrapped around her waist, you place his name in the ribbon. You can add anything else, either within the ribbon, or over her head, etc.

ummm, dont do his name, you wil regret it someday, if you get remarried or something, but try maybe his middle name or something. that's hard to do...my tat is a rose because my middle name is rose. a simple heart with his initials in it would be nice.
