Correct me if i'm wrong, but from what i've heard, if you don't believe in god, then you go to hell. If this is true, why is god worshipped? Why would anyone want to worship a man (or whatever it is) that banishes people who don't believe in him to hell?

I think the reasoning is that God created humans with the purpose of worshipping him, and giving humans free will allows them to choose to worship him or not. Forcing worship is like demanding a gift, which is not really a gift at all.

What sends people to hell isn't not believing in God, it's being imperfect and separated from him. Everyone has sinned, from Mother Theresa to Sadam Hussein to me, and to that jerk who cut me off in traffic today.

Hell is what everyone deserves because of their sin, but it's not what everyone is going to get. Just like if everyone on earth was on trial, and if we sinned, we are sentenced to Hell... that's just how it is.

God wouldn't be perfect if he allowed imperfection into Heaven. He would be less God-like if he did. It'd be like having a corrupted judge, who lets a murderer go free, because he loved the murderer. It's not justice if the debt isn't paid somehow.

Jesus takes that debt. If it was a courtroom, Jesus would stand up and tell the judge that he will take the place of everyone, since he is the only one not guilty of the crime of sin.

Worship is the thanks given for Jesus taking the place in line. It's not happy, and it's not joyous, that some people refuse to allow Jesus to take their punishment for them. But, it's fair. Everyone has their chance, and not everyone takes it. We don't say "God, I'm glad you're making Donald burn in Hell". We say "I'm glad you've taken my spot, and I hope everyone accepts your gift of freedom from judgment"

If he didn't judge, then he wouldn't be perfect. If he allowed everyone into heaven, he wouldn't be perfect. He doesn't banish people to hell... people are headed there on their own, but are given the option of freedom.

Well if you don't believe in Traffic Rules and still drive on the road, You will go to jail.
Does that make Government Cruel ??

You have been given very advanced facility, much better than animals. You use it and still you don't follow the system and misuse it, you will have to go to Hell (Gods Jail).

If this convinces/does not convince you, you may like to read the book "Laws of nature" at the below link.

If the traffic Police asks you to Stop, You have to Stop. He asks you to walk in straight line, you cannot argue. You have to religiously keep looking at the sign. You have to follow without argument. If you are intelligent you will realize that it is for your own benefit.
