I want to start jogging but the only thing that is stopping me is embarrasment. In my town it is mostly main roads, and I fear people laughing at me when I'm jogging. I had surgery on my hip 2 years ago when I was 13 (now 15), so I have a limp and when I run I waddle. Yes, I'm a little overweight, 20 punds maybe. So, how do I get over this fear?

people aren't paying attention to you. you feel like they are but you know what, I caught myself staring at someone jogging the other morning and I was thinking to myself, "good for you! I need to go jog in the mornings!" if someone's watching you, the chances are they are admiring you!

I have the equal challenge. Try overlaying up in sweatshirts or going early within the morning earlier than individuals get up, or if it isn't a nasty vicinity and your now not afraid, at overdue night time. After a at the same time and whilst you're within the form you wish to be in you'll put on much less apparel and exhibit off your frame, and it should not be embarrassing for the reason that usually whilst individuals are jogging it way they're looking to get or stay healthful and liable adequate not to be lazy. Personally I see no purpose for them to giggle at you, if whatever they are going to recognize you or uncover you horny for doing it. It's a mental factor and in the event you consider too embarrassed take a look at training at a gymnasium or when you have the money, get a treadmill to train. It's bigger to run round freely despite the fact that and now not on a desktop so are not making it a everlasting factor in the event you do get a treadmill or gymnasium club only for jogging :) P.S. If you have already got a high-quality tummy simply move out dressed in a physical activities bra if it makes you consider extra optimistic.

You're doing a great thing so that's a start. If you're really self-conscious, what about going at a time when there aren't tons of people out and about...like early morning or in the evening? Or get a friend to go with you. Try not to worry about what other people are thinking, because all that matters is what YOU think! Put on your headphones and just enjoy the music and the scenery...and the sense of accomplishment you'll feel afterwards!

It is easy to advise U by saying , don't bother about other people, although it is true and nobody really cares. U think they R laughing at U , but everybody only cares about their own selves, That's the truth. But if it bothers U, maybe U can go out jogging when it is a littlle dark, and put a hood over your head, or wear a baseball hat and sunglasses. It will make U feel less embarrassed. Good Luck.

Well even if anyone does give you crap, at least you're doing something about being overweight. If you don't put up with a couple sneers and snickers here and there, you'll let the embarassment get the best of you and might stop working out. Don't let other people influence your goal.

Or, if you can afford, get a gym membership and hop on the treadmill a few days a week.

it really doesn't matter what other people think, what matters is that you have a good self image. If jogging makes you feel good, go for it. Personally, I prefer to speed walk, yeah it looks strange, but it is easier on the joints and you burn just as many calories.

You could jog in your backyard (in circles) or on a treadmill if you have one (that is until you lose enough weight to feel confident). But if people seriously laugh at you, they're the one with the problem.

I agree with the person who said people really don't care. Most everybody is concerned with themselves and don't pay much attention to anybody else for more than a few seconds.

Do what we do, try the Walk Away the Pounds tapes or DVD's from Leslie Sansone. You can get them on Amazon or Ebay or from your library.
