People there are trying to cross into U.S border all the time. Why sit here and discuss measures that we should pass to stop them from coming over? Why not expand the U.S border into Mexico by invading them? We gain a piece of land, and they get to live in the U.S. There is no reason they would resist. Its a win/win situation.

Terrible idea. There is nothing to be gained by acquiring any land inhabited by poverty stricken people. We have a difficult time caring for the US poor population.

Oh that would be interesting. But considering that California, New Mexico and Texas were once a part of Mexico, who's to say that it wouldn't happen again. Actually it wouldn't happen. The image of the US to the world would be ruined and the US would be considered a threat to the rest of the world. There is no win for the US if Mexico became a part of the US.

Yah, not happening anytime soon. What if Canada invaded us?

No as many illegals have merely overstayed a vacationer visa. besides, they'll come as long as American employers supply them jobs. we'd desire to start jailing the employers who hire them and the illegals will supply up coming. You treatment a concern on the source. A fence is completely a political band help.

because the land is crap. noone wants it. why do you think they are coming here. our natural resources are far more superior than theirs. not only that think about this... it's not only the govt that mexicans are trying to flee. they are trying to flee the agricultural nightmare they live every day. they can't do anything with that land and it is in no interest to us for reasons just mentioned. i say we close the damn borders and depoert them all until they can learn flippin english!! it should be a pre.-requisite. i mean damn they won't let me be there and i couldn't make it if i didn't speak spanish. so tit for tat.

A valid point, however there are a multitude of problems that I fear you didn't take into account.

1) working conditions in Mexico
2) corruption of the military and police
3) inefective and corrupt government

Financially speaking it would be folly to annex Mexico. As great an idea as it is, it's just not feasible.

No thanks. We have enough to deal with and South America would feel they were next. We are not liked around the world, and for no reasons. Lets not give them one. Besides, that's not what the USA is about. Peace

I got a better idea. Make an American version of the french foreign legion. Serve 4 years ( I heard to be legal it takes 10 years.) go through all the most dangerous assignments and prove your loyalty to the US through combat, learn English by serving and while serving get a basic american education, get an honorable discharge and then receive American citizenship. Did I say receive? No I mean earn it.
