I heard that the life span of a projector lamp (IN72) was only 300 hours. I spent a good deal of money on the projector only to find a replacement bulb is more than half of what I paid for the projector. I am already at 120 hours and am getting nervous that I am going to have to spend more money. Anyone know?????

The life span of the Infocus IN72 projector lamp when set to "low" mode is 3,000 hours. When the lamp is set to "normal" or "not low" the hours drop to 2,000 hours.

The major concern is replacement cost of lamps which usually cost between $200 - $300 and last any number of hours depending on how the TV is shut off. Failing to properly shut down either LCD or DLP units which involves leaving on the main fan running for some 20 minutes -- will result in early failure of projection lamps.

Good luck!

300 hours? Are you kidding me? They may cost $300, but there is no way they last 300 hours. They last anywhere from 2000-4000 hours depending on how often you use the projector and how well you treat your projector.

Right now, projector companies have not found a cheaper solution. High pressure mercury lamps is the only technology that can produce the brightest and consistent light for a long period of time. Halogen lamps are bright, but have short life.

300 hours is about right. I was sooo astounded at the cost of the lamps, myself. I need to go into the projector lamp business!

3000 hours you have ages to go, its not like you use the proj every day and it cost only like $200 or £150 dependent all other cost for a replacement

lol
Check your sources,it's actually 3000 hours.
Mine only has about 466 hours used and still shines nice & bright. If you haven't used the HDMI 1080i input yet,I suggest you do.It's noticably smoother and cleaner then 480p component input!!
