Can I at least get individual tools like Powerpoint or Excel free (or at least trial)?

You can't, because MS doesn't give out anything for free.

However, you can get an alternative free of cost in OpenOffice from http://openoffice.org

It can open any MS Office application and even save in MS Office format.

All the best.

Microsoft Office 2000 is not a free product and it is not goven for download. You will only get a trial version of the latest office only (2003).

If u want it free then go for Open Office, very similar to microsoft office and its free.

here is the link ....
