Wow, so many replies. Okay, I just want to say, hell doesn't exist, but I was more interested in what people thought about these questions. That is why I put "am" in a clause, meaning that referring to someone's beliefs 'am I going to hell?'. You cannot KNOW that a place exists from reading it in a book, knowledge cannot be passed from someone else, there is no experience that you can call your own. I am more interested in WHY people can fall for such blinding beliefs. I am not an atheist by the way...I am also not a theist as paradoxical as that sounds. U.G seems to disagree with many of you...

I wanted to sort of try make this a Philosophical discussion, but I didn't feel it had a place in the Philosophy section. I want to know why people "believe" without actually knowing. "Beliefs" imply that you do not "know", they imply you agree with something but have no proof.

JunHao Loke said it right there: "Back to the question, Heaven or Hell, how do we know? Ans is we really don't."

Yes I agree. I want to know why people seem to think they do.

Don't get sensitive over this. We can't tell others off for not choosing our side. If someone believes something strongly, its their right. Whether its right or wrong, who are we to judge when we are already "imperfect". Let us be humble and not make others uncomfortable.I've encountered many preachers who tells me to embrace the lord. What's the logic? Cause HE loves us? Love has to be two way. God can give but if the person is not ready to recieve, who are we, mere mortals to change that fact.another mortal. I'm trying to be neutral here. There are many views to an issue, its which side you stand. I believe there is no absolute. Its the meaning we, in our current society, give to it. Just like hypnosis was once dismissed as hocus-pocus in the past until science proven all sceptics otherwise. Or like a tribal native in a distant land baring his bottoms, is he wrong? Back to the question, Heaven or Hell, how do we know? Ans is we really don't. Its what we chose to trust and believe, just like anything else.

The Bible says that you must not only believe in God, but that you must believe in and accept His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour if you want to go to Heaven. If you don't believe in God, then would it really matter if you went to hell? How can there be a hell if there is no God? As for WILL you go to hell, I can only tell you what the Bible says. I believe the Bible to be the Word of God, and I believe what it says. I also believe that no human being on this earth has the right to say for certain who will go to Heaven and who will go to Hell. Only God can decide that and only He can judge. If you are concerned about going to hell however, I would suggest that you learn all you can about the Bible with an open mind and THEN decide if you believe in God or not.

Dear Dom,

It takes more than believing in God to avoid eternal damnation. The Devil and his demons believe in God and they even tremble. Jesus said that you must be "Born Again" to be able to enter into the Kingdom of God. This means that God has to remove your spirit and give you a new Spirit, the Holy Spirit, God Himself.

Acts 2:38 shows us how to do this. It says that if we turn from our sins and are baptized in the name of Jesus(Not the infant kind) for the payment of our sins, then God will give us the gift of the Holy Ghost. Anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit living in them will end up eternally separated from God, which is Hell.

So to answer your question. Yes you are going to Hell, but don't worry. God is patient and good. You still have time to turn from your sins and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The choice is up to you. The offer of Salvation is offered to all those who will come and believe.

What is your choice. Choose life!

There was a man that didn't believe that lightning wouls shock him. So every rain storm he went outside and dared th lightning to strike him. Well years went on and nothing happened. Suddenly he went out to dump the trash and lightning struck him right in the back. As he lay there he thought, I believe, but it was to late, He Died.

Heaven and Hell, whether they are real or not, do you want to wait til you are staring it in the face to find out. Let me know landstonegsl@yahoo.com

Jesus said 'My father's house has many rooms. It it were not so, I would have told you.' I have always taken this to mean that there are many forms of sincere belief that make one worthy of getting into heaven. I don't think God punishes those who honestly choose the 'wrong' set of beliefs, if such a thing can be defined. I con't help wondering however, if you are worried about going to hell, how strongly you don't believe in God.

No- you will just cease to exist in the physical world and will only be a memory for all who knew you.
Your body will go to the Earth if you're buried or out to the wind if someone scatters your ashes outside- or your remains will be doomed to sit on the mantle in a jar in someone's house.
Anyone who claims to know where you will actually go is hopeful, at best.
All we can be pretty sure of is what will happen to our remains- because there are laws about how we handle dead bodies.
What happens to one's soul or essence is a hope or guess- that is where the faith part comes in- only speculation.

Believing in God does not make you go to Heaven. In the Bible it says that even the demons believe in God and shudder (paraphrase James 2:19-20)
John 14:6 says:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

God is in Heaven and the only way to get to Him is through Jesus. So you get into Heaven by asking Him into your heart. He is the only way.

Why do you care? If you don't believe in God then it doesn't matter what we say.

You either have a fundamental misunderstanding of religion (that religious beliefs are based off of faith) or you are just another atheist that, rather than not having a religion, prefers to turn atheism into an active movement to preach against having a God.

The word of God says that a person that does not believe in God is self condemned already... No one sends anyone to hell, you send yourself by not believing.

God did provide a way out of hell for you with His free plan of salvation. This indeed is the ultimate plan for you to be able to enter into heaven... Jesus is Lord and Satan would love to see you not go to heaven.

What we know of hell is found in the Bible.
What we know of God is found in creation and in the Bible.
The Bible tells us that if a person rejects Jesus, then they will surely find themselves hell-bound.
By not believing in God, you reject Jesus as God, and that puts you in hot water, Dude.
