Any ideas as to what kind of food they like aside from worms and bread?

It's actually really cute. I was doing some gardening for my mother yesterday when it first appeared. I was digging up the soil and it kept flitting in and out to pick worms from the earth when it thought that I was not looking...
Eventually I started finding the worms myself and would put in a small area of the garden for the bird to come and get them. It would flit in grab the worms, then fly off. I then put the worms in this area and would whistle and the bird would appear, I'd point to the worms and it would got an get them.

Today I turned up at my mum's again and when I went into the garden, I whistled again and it appeared then I put the food down and off it went to get it. It even stood about 6cms form me when I was digging... I thought these type of birds were scared of humans.. but this one is so friendly and I actually look forward to seeing it now.. ! LOL

That is really cool. Do you know if it's male or female? Google robins and see which one you have. They love insects, perhaps fruit too?

Lucky you! Birds are sweet and social.

Robins can be one of the most friendliest and trusting of all wild birds that come into your garden.
Don't put out peanuts unless they are in a wiremess wild bird feeder with very small holes or they will take large bits of peanut and feed their young and the young choak and die from the large pieces of food.
Go to your local pet shop and get some wild bird feed.

Live meal worms are a Robin's favourite food. It has been said they will sell their soul for them.
I saw in the paper that a man had taught a wild Robin to take them from his lips. There was a photo of the Robin hovering like a Hummingbird snatching the meal worm.
Try pet shops/fishing shops or online for them, they cost about £5 for a big tub. Keep them moist and they will continue to live.
A lot of other birds like them as well, such as T i ts, Thrushes, Blackbirds.

It will eat soft fruits and grain....
but this is natural for the bird to come down while you are digging up the soil because it is waiting for worms to come to the surface. They aren't that scared of humans, at least not when they're hungry.

That's pretty cool. You are fortunate in that the bird must sense something special about you. Most, pretty much all, birds are afraid of humans so it is surprising that this bird has come to trust you so quickly. Have fun with your cute little friend.

Awwwh you're so cute!

I think this time of year the bird may have babies to feed. I'm guessing worms are best as soft for baby birds.

Im sure th RSPB or ur local wildlife centre will have care information. xxx
