The Jeep has direct steering, that means no play in the steering wheel. if you turn the wheel at any speed, the direction you turn is the direction your going to go, right then. Thats what causes the vehicle to tip over, going too fast and turning too hard. Your center of gravity in a jeep is also higher than say a sedan but just because the jeep has a shorter wheel base doesn't compute to mean its easier to tip over. The Jeep is one of the funner vehicles to drive on any road.

Only if you drive it at high speeds when taking a curve or turning too sharp to fast. Never swerve to miss something, that can also cause it to tip, just hit it or brake fast. Also, they have been known to tip when off roading but only when on unstable terrain (such as rocks). They can also be overturned in a T-bone accident (hit at high force from the side). I own two and never had it to turn over (also have two children).
Hope this helps.

I've been broadside and done some accidental donuts at 40+mph in the winter, but wasn't scarred of tipping over, just scarred of hitting something, or someone really. I would have felt the same in a Hummer or Caddy.

No they don't tip over easily, well ok they will if you drive it like a moron. Slow down around corners, (i.e. don't go around a corner doing 50MPH. Jeeps are pretty stable vehicles when handled correctly. If you don't understand 4WD usage, you shouldn't be driving a Jeep. Drive it correctly and it will take you wherever you want to go.

Alot depends on what year it is. The newer ones.. about 2000 and newer, are not as bad to tip. Everyone told me this too, but I've have mine for 3 years now and I love it. As long as you drive right, you'll be fine. You can't do 70 mph around a sharp curve, but you shouldn't anyway. And... they have rollbars for that reason. One thing I learned is.... if you do have to slam on your brakes, you will slide sideways!! Good Luck.

If you drive correctly you have nothing to be worried about.we been running jeeps for nearly 28 yrs. and had only one flip and that was do to hard core off roading. i will tell you to get the feel for the jeep first because they do handle differently then a car.

I have had my wrangler for 7 yrs now and have never felt like it was going to tip over. its like any other vehicle if driven in any kind of unsafe manner it can flip over. The only ones i have seen tip over is like the other guy said , due to unsafe offroading.
