A GRANDFATHERS WISDOM

A Native-American grandfather told his grandson
that there is a battle between two wolves that live
within you.

One is evil and has anger, envy, sorrow, regrets,
greed,arrogance,self-pity,resentment,inferiority,
lies,superiority,and ego.

The other wolf is good and has joy, peace love,
hope,serenity,humility,kindness,empathy,generosity,
faith,courage,honor,and integrity.

The grandson asked his grandfather, "Which one wins?"
The old grandfather simply replied "The one you feed.?

I have never heard this before, but I like it. Metaphorically speaking, yes, it is true. Ultimately you decide who you will be. You "feed" or give in to certain character traits that establish how you see yourself and how others see you. I once heard someone say, "Make it a good day or not; the choice is yours." Just my opinion.

Of course!!!
It means a man has to choose between doing the right thing and doing the opposite. There are times when we just cannot distinguish from the two but in the end, we need to make the choice.

You should read between the lines ya know.
Old Indians depicted in movies usually speak like poets. But it only means that they think deeply and that they speak wise words.

This makes perfect sense. Its a representation of our conscience. Then he says to the kid the one who wins is the one he feeds. This means that basically, the one who wins (who he choses 2 become) is the side of him 2 which he acts mostly. for example, if he's a good person, den the good wolf wins and vice versa for the evil wolf.

I have heard of this quote before but I cannot pinpoint where you got it from it was either from a movie or cowboy bebop with the native american episode.

I like this, interesting. I think both of these traits make up a person, no one is always sincere and nice, nor always angry. Our mood is a factor that "feeds", when we're angry, we just want vengeance. When we're in love, we're nice and peaceful.

I am of Indian heritage so I do understand & believe that within each of us lies good & evil. It is up to us which one we "feed" to be who we are.

This is one of my favorite stories. Thanks for sharing it.
It's absolutely true. It's called a self fulfilling prophecy. You get what you believe you're going to get and what you practice.
I'm giving you a star.
