I am currently dealing with this issue (nightmare dress, straight out of a cliche Lifetime movie) and I could use some moral support.

Thanks! :)

LOL...JB...TOO FUNNY! I'm sorry that you are stuck with the wedding dress from hell. There isn't a whole lot I can say to repair that. Is there anything about the dress that you like? Color..cut..price? Just try to smile for the sake of the bride. Maybe your smile and hair will be sooo beautiful that it will take away from the ugly dress. Good luck.

I was asked to be in a wedding once and had to drop out. The dress wasnt ugly per say but it was RED (which i think is horrible for a summer wedding) and it would have looked terrible on me cause I am not a skinny little thing. And the dress was going to cost me over 300 dollars! So i dropped out before ordering the dress once i saw it and the price.
For my wedding I told my bridesmaids that THEY could pick the dress. AND they could pick DIFFERENT dresses as long as the dress could be ordered in the shade of blue i wanted. I didnt care what the dress looked like as long as it came from the bridal shop I was shopping at and could be ordered in the color i wanted.
They all ended up picking the SAME dress. I thought that was so funny. And they all arent the same size (some are skinny, medium, and a little heavier). So i was shocked they all agreed on the same dress.

Well, the dress was decent looking but I had a nightmare situation when my cousin got married. I was away at college and had to get out of town measurements but I had told the lady I'd bought a dress from the same company a month prior, she should order me a size 10.

First, all the dresses came in the wrong color so they had to be reordered. When they finally came in 3 weeks before the wedding, I thought no big deal, all I'll need is a hem. When I got the dress on it looked huge, I got it zipped up and thought to myself "Well, this isn't so..." I couldn't even finish the thought, the entire top of the dress fell off me and the dress slide halfway down my hips! While zipped!

When I went to the bridal shop, all the measurements they had were at least 3 inches off, but they clearly had written down I wanted a size 10. I tried to be nice and treat it as a miscommunication and focus on what could be done to fix the problem. But then the woman said to me in a huffy voice "Well, I don't think I'll be able to do anything for you." And plainly said she wouldn't fit it or give me my money back. Then proceeded to blame my cousin for whole thing! I lost my cool and basically said she had a week to make the dress fit at no additional cost to me. Five days later, the dress fit nearly perfect and they altered it free of charge.

This was a bridal shop my family had used for years and years, and my cousin was the first of 8 of us to get married. Needless to say, we didn't go back.

Don't get to upset because you will not be the only one wearing it! And remember, it's the bride's day and everyone will be more interested in HER dress than the bridesmaids dress. I mean, honestly, how many people do you know that say, "I just can't wait to see what the bridesmaids dresses look like!" Just put a smile on your face and focus on other things. Style your hair a really cute way, wear some pretty jewlery, and get your makeup done. If you focus on things like that, that's what people will notice and compliment more on than the dress you'll be wearing.

My worst one was yellow with a strong hint of orange, with one side tying over the other one, so it had a deep neckline-and I had 32 GG boobs at the time. No one looked good in them-including an ex cheerleader, a statuesque model type, and me with my giant boobs. I had to order a strapless bra from England, and it literally got to my house the day before I left for the wedding. But then I had to be strapped into the dress, and it was SO uncomfortable! My skin, hair, and eye color went the best with the awful color, and my sister in law has red hair so it didn't suit her at all. My other sister in law-the bride- tried it on herself- her figure was that of a model's- but she tried it on in a light green-no yellow for her. I tried tearing the dress up afterwards, but my parents had a fit because the damn thing cost so much. So I feel your pain.

Yes, burgundy lace, ugly and so tight I couldn't walk. And the same girl got remarried and had plum with a crocheted jacket -yulk. I have red hair and it clashed with both dresses. I was the only bridesmaid so it wasn't as if there were other haircolors to consider.

Oh! I hear ya!!! I took a different outfit to the reception; after everyone had a couple of turns at the bar, I discreetly changed!
Fortunately, there are pics and videos to commemorate the experience! Guess what, though?! I was the only one looking at me...everyone else was looking at the bride. Go figure?!

Haha somewhat but not so bad. She had one picked out and we all kind of said we like another one in the same color better so it worked out for us. The thing is, everyone knows she picked out the dresses and its kind of a known joke now, so nobody will think you have terrible taste. Just make the dress look good :]

A couple of years ago, I had to wear a white (on top) and red (on bottom) taffeta number. They had poof sleeves and were made by the brides mother who thought it was still 1985, bc that is exactly what they looked like. This was in 2005. She also made us earrings that looked just as bad and hair combs to match. So then we all had to wear our hair with the comb pushed in it on the side. I thought I was on Dynasty. I know how you are feeling...just hang in there.

Check out this website... you are not alone!

My motto for my wedding is... if I wouldn't wear it, I can't expect my friends/bridesmaids to! Good luck... buy a fierce pair of shoes, and make the most of it. Someday you'll look back and laugh... or post pics on the above website.
