the right rear section was replaced by welding it on. doesnt that decrease the structural quality of the vehicle. shouldnt that be disclosed when selling. it seems just as bad as having a salvage title and not reporting it. a car dealer in ohio is selling this lemon. is this legal? what is the punishment for doing so?

i didnt buy the car, i work at the dealership. the repair was subletted out to a body shop by the dealership. the repair was done as a result of rust, not collision.

No, as long as the car runs and was repaired correctly it should be fine.

My dad got in an accident, car hit him from behind, person damanged the frame, they cut a section off and welded a new one on, you cant even tell the car was in an accident.

If the person selling it told a potential buyer, it might scare him away, when in reality the car is safe.

His car doesnt have a salvage title btw.

Unless the car dealer did the repair, they have no way to know if the car was in an accident. If you were to trade in a car, would you tell the dealer what was wrong with it, knowing that anything you told them would reduce the price they would give you? I don't think you would.

As long as the car is safe, the dealer can sell it with no problem!

If you are worried about buying a car with previous repair, have it checked by your own mechanic prior to purchase. Did you buy a car, and not have it checked out first? If so, are you trying to blame everyone but yourself for problems that are your fault?

Unless the dealer warrantied (in writing) that the car never had damage, you have no case!!

i wouldn't want it if it was like this, and i would think that they would have to disclose this info to anyone buying it,basically it should have a salvage title on it if it was bad enough to have a new section of frame put in it,you can report them on the car,to me it would be the same thing as a salvage title car, maybe worse, most salvage title cars haven't had pieces cut out of the frame on them, good luck with it.

frame damage does lessen the sturdiness of the vehicle. not sure about ohio laws, in some states it is illegal and should be sold with a salvage title.
