Feels like getting a shot in the doctor's office. You need to take care of it once you get it - you do NOT want an infection. I ended up having to take mine out because it tore a bit (got caught on jeans). Just be careful with it and you will love it!

oh for God's sake grow a little spine! you don't HAVE to jump off the bridge because everyone else does! if you insist on doing this talk to people who have had it done, ask for places that have been inspected and use CLEAN needles, etc. the risk of infections from piercings is very real. it might be a good idea to see how your folks feel about you being pierced. if they put their foot down and your that worried about what your friends think at least you can say they don't want you to have it.
I don't mean to be mean, I just want you to get out of the habit of following the crowd for the sake of it. I know it's tough but especially things done with your body need to be done for the RIGHT reason. Good luck and PEACE. make the right decision for the right reason.

It hurts to get anything pierced, its a needle you know. So it really has to do with your tolerance of pain, some places hurt more than others, all the common ones(belly button, cartilage, eyebrow, nose, tounge) pretty much anyone can handle. and the belly button does take awhile to heal and is very susceptable to infection, so shes probably honest that it hurt her 6 months in. if you take care of it by the piercers instructions, take a pain killer beforehand if you are sensitive to pain, youll be fine.

I got mine pierced when I was younger and it hurt me for a couple of weeks,I think it depends on the pain you can take, I'm allergic to everything except gold so my body pushed out the sterling barbell and now I have an ugly scar on my tummy

good luck!

Of course it will hurt..imagine poking a needle through your fresh...but it's the matter of how well you can take pain...some people simply have higher threshold for pain than others.

It's a lie when people tell you that doesn't hurt or this doesn't hurt...they all hurt but the question is is the pain bearable? And this depends on each individual.

first of all, yes it hurts. Second, belly piercings are the most at risk piercings for infections. They also reject from the body, which means they fall out. i would think a lot about this before you got one. don’t get it just because someone else has it.

i have 15 piercings or have had them at one time i took some out. and none of them hurt, i had the belly and that hurt the least out of all of them if i had to say any hurt. everyone i know has it and it didnt hurt, if anything does its the clamp that holds your skin. pinch yourself and thats what it feels like. im sure youd be fine! take a friend to hold your hand.

If it hurt all that bad, why would so many people have it done?

Don't get a piercing just to be "cool" to your friends. Get it because you want it.

If her piercing is still hurting her, it means she isn't taking care of it well.
