my parents were divorced many years ago and my dad moved out of state and we had no contact with him after that.he died in 1966 and we heard he was buried in an unmarked grave.I didn't know him well but would like to put a marker on his grave .I don't know where he is buried so how can I find him?thanks to everyone.

Try to get his death records to see where he was at when he died unless you know what city he was in. Even better if you know where he was born he may have picked a cemetery near his home or near his parents/family. Try to look his family up or call cemeteries in the areas you think he may have been buried in. I find it admirable that you would do this for him!

well, do you at least know the state? you may be able to check the social security death index. it may have the state and county in which he died. if you can find out the county, you can get his death cert. from there you should be able to find out the funeral director that took care of the burial.
