It depends on the airline, but you can expect a charge of about $50 each way for taking your cat on the airplane. The cat has to be in a carrier and stowed under your seat during the flight; the carrier counts as a carry-on piece. [Depending on the length of the flight and the temperament of you pet, you might want to see the vet about tranquilizers].

You'll need to arrange for the pet transport as soon as possible because only a certain number of pets are allowed on a plane and they need to know that you will have an animal. Call your airline and they will be able to help you; no airline allows you to book your pet's reservation online, but they do offer some helpful info.

Last year I flew about 6 hours with my cat. You need to pay extra fee for your cat... about $70 I paid I believe, but you need to call your airline and make a reservation(they allow limited number of pest on board) for your cat and get info on the carrier size etc... as long as your carrier fits you can take your cat with you. I did not get a hard carrier I think it's much easier with fabric ones. Cat can hold pee and stuff for a pretty long time, so 2-3 hour flight is nothing.... like I said my flight was 6 hours and the whole trip was like 10 hours and my cat didn't have an accident or anything. You need to hold your cat as you go through security. That's about it. Call your airline, it will be fine.

If you could get a cat sitter like a friend to watch your cat you would probably fare better. If you decide to take the cat, call the airline. You will have to pay and the cat will have to be in specified carrier. I have never brought a cat, but I did bring a hamster. I had to provide a special cage that would comfortably fit on my lap and I had to pay $50.00.

Most airlines allow it and charge a fee of >$100 usually. You will have to get a carrier that fits under the seat, and you will also have to take your cat to the vet for a clean bill of health (the vet will have to issue you a health cert) no more than X number of days before the flight (I can't remember how many days exactly). Also, it's not very comfortable for kitty, but I think it's scarier to be away from their humans. :)

Good luck!

I took my cat on a plane and he was fine. just make sure the cage is securaly locked and they have food and maybe water. Just try to make them comfortable. to get you cat on the plane go to you airlines.com and on aa there are only two animals in the cabin allowed so check and it also costs about 50
