Of course, some guys/girls will start "dating" maybe as soon as middle school. I think that's cute, but not serious dating. For something like that...maybe 15/16. That's just my opinion though.

16 for double dates and 18 for single dates at 16/17 if you double you have someone else to (hopefully) leave with by 18 you should have enough experience in how to date (not just sleep with someone but really get to know them) that you can leave a bad date on your own. Dating is a precursor to real relationships and should not focus on sex - it should be about getting a good idea of who a person is and what - if anything - you have in common to build a relationship (even if it just turns out to be a lifelong friendship) on.

I'd go with about 16. Middle school relationships rarely last and are usually only done to feel older and cooler. High school is probably the best time. I'd agree, having a car is a good time to start dating.

I think 16 is a good age. My parents made me wait until my 16th birthday. It's also a proven fact that the older you are when you start dating the later you'll marry.

Although I completely did not follow this, I now believe people shouldn't date until they are ready for marriage, emotionally and financially. Dating will lead to physical relationships and in my case has led to an unplanned pregnancy, and although I love my son to death, I wish I would have been married and way more financially stable.
