Well first off, you shouldn't diagnose yourself, you should see a psychologist who can accurately diagnose you. Avoidant personality disorder can be confused with social anxiety, or just avoidant style.

I believe I have avoidant style, not the actual disorder, because I function socially at a much better level than a lot of avoidants I've talked to over the internet.

Really it just comes down to overcoming your fears, which are completely unreasonable. You perceive that others are watching everything you do and you feel like your social mess, but most of it is just in your head. Talk to people, learn to relax, and see an expert, they really can help you. I was seeing a counselor at my school and just by talking about things and recieving advice i learned so much about myself and my perceptions.

Good luck, I understand your pain, but there is hope. Just don't give up, so many people give up, they live alone and never interact with other people. This makes them lose even more confidence and actually does damage their social skills.

I think I actually have the same thing....I just never knew what it was called so thank you! But anyways, I think it would be best to get some professional help. This is a very difficult problem to deal with by yourself so it would be good to talk to someone about it. This can affect your quality of life and make the easiest things hard. Im not sure of your age so if you are under 18 you might want to talk to your parents and you might want to schedule some psychiatrist appointments no matter what your age. I think this condition requires some professional help. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to get help for yourself! Good luck to you! =) I hope this helps!

Counseling and a med consult. All personality disorders can be treated and improved, contrary to popular belief.
