I have a 2.5 year old chinese dwarf hamster. In the past few months she has what appears to be a blood blister. It appeared on one of her little toes, but has now spread and basically overtaken her whole leg, up to the thigh. I know she has to be in pain and it looks like it would just burst at any second. I doubt she can be saved, and I don't want to let her suffer, so I was wondering if vets did put them to sleep, and if so, is it cheap since theyre so small anyway??

I don't think it costs very much, if they charge at all. My vet's office euthanizes pets free of charge.

This should have been looked at by at vet some time ago when you first noticed it instead of letting her suffer like this. All she may have needed is antibiotics. How could you let this get to this point, wasn't she worth taking her to the vet? Take her to the vet ASAP in the morning for her to be seen and see if anything can be done, then if the vet can't do anything for her, put her down. To put her down is $5 and up depending on the vet. But I think her life if worth trying to get her well again. I just rescued a Syrian hamster where the owner knew she was ill and couldn't afford medical treatment. She has a nipple infection from nursing too many litters without a break. She will recover.

Just try to save her life first, she's worth it as a companion to you.

Any animal I have whether my own pet or a rescue is worth my time, money and energy to save if they can be saved. I have given up many hours of sleep to try and save one. One of my own cats has a injury to her tail, it will need amputation next week because the tail can't be saved and she's on antibiotics for 15 days. She's confined to a cage to prevent futher injury to her and so she can recover physically. We're unsure how, but her tail was broken at the base and just drags behind her, she has no feeling in it and it's ice cold, but the vet can't operate until the infection is out of her system. Once removed she'll spend another 10-14 days confined for further healing after the surgery. She's over 9 yrs old and has been with me since birth.

i'm sorry about the possible loss of your hamster it must be a bummer having to deal with somthing like that consitiring that you have had it for 2.5 years. Anyways see online about this disesise and see if there is a cure and if the is see what it is and see if its worth it.but if no luck that that little trooper to the vet and see if the do put them to sleep and if the do see how much it costs but if they don't put them to sleep i hate to say this but you my have to flush that little guy.

hope you find away to save him and tell that little guy that i said to stay strong.

Best of luck

DOES THE COST REALLY MATTER.??????

YOUR HAMSTERS PAIN IS WORTH MORE THAN MILLIONS OF POUNDS

STOP BEING SELFISH AND GET DOWN THE VETS WHOCH YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE WHEN YOU FIRST NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HAMSTER.
THEN MAYBEE IF YOU DID SO THEY WOULD OF BEEN ABLE TO SAVE IT SORRY BUT YOU HAVE LET THIS HAPPENED YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

IF YOU CANT AFFORD THE VETS THEN YOU CANT AFFORD THE PET
