I like creams if I feel like playing it safe and taupe/brown. If you feel wild, try a light blue. But think of something mediterranean or tuscan patterned... olive green, copper, black and rust combined. I've seen rugs like that in Target and thought they were gorgeous. Good luck! Sounds really nice!

What style are you going for? It sounds like a Mediterranean or dark Scilian color scheme.
With all those darker colors I'm thinking something to lighten it up - especially if there are not that many windows in the kitchen - so here goes:
1. Tan - to pick up those bits in the countertop
2. Gold - a lighter shade, not going toward orange
3. Ecru - always a good standard to fall back on
Now, if you want to introduce another color to stay within the scheme, but as a contrast, try one of these:
1. Teal - or possibly a dark Aqua
2. Green - either a dark or light Olive might work
Like I said, it depends on what you're going for. What things will be accenting your countertops? What color are your appliances? Are you going to be adding throw rugs by the sink or range? How many windows are there? All of these questions would come into play.
Good luck.

RE:
What color curtains goes with rusty orange colored walls?
I've looked at many colors and I'm not sure what color is best. I thought browns, reds, coppers, golds, etc. My kitchen has this rusty orange color on the walls, a neutral floor, black marble countertops with bits of tan and orangy red. Any suggestions???

Yay! I'm glad I just finished my color technique class so I can help you out! The color that compliments orange is blue. Since its more of a rusty orange a soft blue might work. Hope this helps!

How about trying to find some that are white and orange/rusty? And then try adding some colour to your walls? Might look cute if you go for a bright orange?:-)

Maybe go with a creamy white/off-white. Or find a cream curtain with black or one of those other colors going through it subtly. You don't want to go with another bold color-it would be too much color going on in one room. The walls are the focal point here.

How about:
a print or stripe in ivory or light tan, with rust or orange in it, or
solid ivory or tan with rusty tiebacks, or
lace neutral, or
ivory sheers, or
'burlap' fabric, or
do ivory or white blinds, or
tan bamboo blinds, or
wooden shutters

Tan; Beige; Brown: or a combination of the three;
White works with anything;
Gold; Yellow; or a combination of the two.
