I am 13, and I am a bit scared that something may happen, like I may get lost, or I get freaked out that our plane is high jacked...any good tips to stay calm? I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Chelly Bean, Thank you for your kind Email earlier. Don't worry about your plane trip. it is the safest way to travel in the world. If you are staying in a hotel, make sure that you get one of their cards when you check in. Put it in your wallet and if you get lost you can just show it to a Cabbie or a cop and they will get you back to the hotel. If you are taking credit cards with you and you haven't traveled before make sure to let your credit card company know. If you don't they might cancel your cards in order to protect you. They will see these charges coming from a new place and freak out. Then they cancel all your cards and you are stuck. But with a little preparation, no problem. Take your music with you on the plane. If I get nervous I find that if I can get into some familiar music it mellows me right out. Oh.. My power just went out. I am in Vietnam and it happens every once in a while. I will fire up the generator and send this off god willing. Stay cool and have fun.

Oh. thats freaky. I'm 14, I'm going to Florida alone in about a week for the first time, and my friends call me Chella.

Anyway, I have been freaking out about the same things for the past few weeks. When I get too freaked out I take breaths through my nose, that always seems to help me calm down. Bring a map so that it's harder for you to get lost. I've bought a map of my city and played with map reading for the past couple of weeks just to get me used to it.

The first time I flew anywhere I was convinced that the plane was going to get hijacked or we were going to crash and that I was going to end up dead or on some island in the middle of nowhere.

Obviously, that didn't happen.

There is only a teenytinyittybittymicroscopic chance that anything bad will happen on the plane. The worst that may happen is that your ears pop or you get a snooty hostess. Don't think about the bad things happening, envision the good things. Envision yourself having a great time in Florida. I'm sure you will! (And I hope I will to!)
