I've taken Topamax, but it made me feel funny - in a loopy kinda way. I just did not like it. (It can cause some serious side effects.) I've also taken Inderal on a daily basis and that one really helped a lot - with no side effects. (Although Inderal can cause a few side effects too - but it is a much older drug that has been studied a lot.)
My mother-in-law takes Elavil for headaches, which is classified as an antidepressant. She's been on it for years and it helps her - but she didn't have bad migraines to begin with, just normal headaches.
Good luck!

I'm taking Topomax right now for migraines and it's working & no side effects. Hope it continues working because I was having a migraine every single day & living on Maxalt & the doctor said I couldn't keep taking so much Maxalt.

I just play for fun, not on an organized team. I played park and rec basketball last year to test out organized basketball, and I didn't like it. I just like getting a group of friends and doing whatever I want, not what the coach draws up for me. The superstar on my high school freshman team told me I was better than most of the other freshman players, so I'm guessing I would have made the team if I tried out haha.

I took Topomax as a migraine preventative a couple of years ago. It worked very well at preventing the migraines but, for me, it had the nasty side effect of taking my sense of taste away and leaving a nasty taste in my mouth 24/7.

I know other people who take it to prevent migraines and they get good results.

I hope this helps.

I've had severe headaches from nerve damage to the cervical spine and headaches would make me cry. The topamax took them right away, no ill feeling of any kind. I just can't afford them anymore, with the co-pay insurance they're $45.00
