I dont think he was put to sleep-maybe they meant that he is a great horse and should stand next to another great one? Sorry, not much help....

He was retired last year to stud at Darley Stud in Lexington, Kentucky. He will stand at stud for $100,000 for a live foal. Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernardini

He was retired last year for breeding purposes. He first crop of foals will be in 2008.
