Well, I have a puppy. So, she is very playful, even in her crate, she chews on her bowl, kicks it, chases it, bites it, she even peed in it one time. Boy, she really treats that bowl horribly, the only time she likes it is when she's eating in it. Anyway, what I'm saying is it really depends on the dog, is your dog messy? I rinse my puppies bowl everyday, but I wash it throughly with soap like every 3 days or so..... Ok, I really have no schedule, but I wash it when its dirty, thats not everyday, so I don't wash it everyday. If your dog does'nt have beef with its bowl, you could probably get away with washing it like every week.

Good luck, hope I gave good advice...........

All dishes should be washed with hot soapy water daily to avoid the growth of bacteria. Having a second set of dishes always comes in handy while the other one is being cleaned. Replace scratched dishes that can harbor bacteria.

When considering bowls for your dog to eat and drink from, don't forget about a storage container and scoop if your dog eats dry kibble. Keeping the food in a container with a lid extends the life of the food, reduces the breakdown of vitamins, and maintains freshness. It also keeps unwanted critters from getting into the food (this may even include your own dog!). If your dog is a canned food lover, using a can cover will help keep the food fresh if you don't use the whole can at one feeding.

good luck

I wash the food dishes about once a week, and the water dishes about every other day. Otherwise the water leaves that slimy film on the bottom. Yuck!

Water dishes should be washed every day. If you only feed dry food then maybe not every day for food bowls, just ask yourself if YOU would want to eat or drink out of them and let that be your guide!

Dogs food and water dishes should be sterilized daily to prevent any bacteria.

Dogs are used to eating dirt, they even eat there own poop.
So the dry food bowl should be ok, but it does get wet from the dog.
City water has enough chemical in it to keep it fresh for a week or two.
So, one should wash the dog food bowls and water bowl with soap and warm water within about one or two weeks. Thats what i do, and all seven of my dogs are doing well.

Everyday - and use a ceramic or metal bowl. It doesn't matter how well you wash a plastic bowl, bacteria forms in the scratches and can cause canine acne.
