Why do they all seem to be alike in certain ways. Yes, there's a few different ones, but the majority are always wearing the same 'Christian' clothes as everyone else.
I'm a Christian, but find it almost scary that at certain churches everyone looks the same. Why are they afraid to be different?

I perceive you're a lady and notice details like dress and fashion.

You noticed that women christians dress alike.

What you noticed is pretty accurate and the answer is in the bible.

The commandment for women who are Christians is this: in 1 Timothy 2:9 it says,

"In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment; "

WOMEN adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety.

So all women that will follow this would have it.

Let's read 1 Peter 3:3,

"Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel; "

It's really an established truth in the bible that this doctrine is for Christians, particularly for women who are Christians.

And do you know that not only in this present time that the women who fear God dress this way? Let's read from the same book and chapter: 1 Peter 3:3-5,

"Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;

but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands: "

Even the holy women aforetime adoren themselves after this manner.

where do you live? have you gone to churches all over the country? all over the world? you are putting Christians into a box, and what you really mean is a few Christians in one little place where you live. Different people are different everywhere. It depends on where you are and who the people are. It's also that we live in the US - and it depends on where in the US. I don't dress like everyone else, and I don't think people dress alike. Sometimes it's because we all buy our clothes at the same stores. I think that's it.
I don' t think there's any particular reason. In Texas normal dress is a western shirt and boots, even in church. But people don't dress like that in Wisconsin. In general people try to dress nice, but that's about it.

It depends, christians should dress a way that reflect them as CHrist's followers, what they wear should look appropriate because their bodies is the temple of the holy spirit. Exposing the body to the public does not really reflect the person as a christian. Although clothes doesn't make someone a christian but how you present yourself already tell something about you.

I don't know what church you go too- but the people in my church do not look like "clones". If what ways do they dress the same? Dressing appropriately for church, does not mean we have to dress all like. Some women wear skirts, some pants, Some men, suits and others more casual, etc. What do Christian clothes look like?- Jesus does clothe us in new garments- but it is in His inward righteousness, Granted there may be some clothes that are not as appropriate for church, but I don't think we all look alike.

If I go to a school and notice the 'cliques,' I will notice that they all dress alike, too.
The punk and goth kids all dress alike.
The preps all dress alike.
The different racial cliques will all dress alike.

At a church, there is no different an understood dress code. You represent! In this case, you dress up for church, which may include some khakis and a dress shirt. Some wear a suit.

It's against the Christian laws or morals to dress outside of their dresscode. Many Christians, especially older conservative ones feel that you can't wear certain clothes because it represents a sexually provacative nature or something that represents Satan.

If they had any sense of individuality and were capable of independent thought, they wouldn't be Christians. Don't worry, you'll be dressing just like them before long.

I don't know. How many of you wear long black dresses with 33 buttons, and a stiff-backwards linen collar?
