Time and again homosexuality questions hit the forum, and time and again I ask this question.

Just once, I would like an answer that actually explains to me how you can justify your concern with what consenting adults do in their bedrooms.

Homosexuality is not a choice, it is mandated at birth, right along with hair and eye color.

If there is a God, and he made homosexuals, then why would he demand that they remain celibate and not act on their desires? That doesn't make any sense.

Oh my God, how can you say that homosexuality is a birth defect?!

radiancia....there are many in this forum who attack the gay members for no reason other than to further their own agenda. That's not right, it only breeds discord.

For those of you who think otherwise, I am not homosexual. I'm a straight female, single mother to three sons.

Hi, I'm a single mum with 9 kids and straight. Personally, I believe that what goes on in the bedroom as long as its consentuous and nobody gets hurt and every-one involved is happy, then it isnt anybody elses business at all. You have to remember though that we are living in a society who believes it has the right to judge others. A lot of which is because of their own lives being either boring and monotenous or as an escape from dealing with their own lifes issues. Whatever their reasons, There will always be some-one who has an opinion on some-one elses life and choices. Myself, well I'm pretty rough around the edges and look it too, have had a lot of life experience and am old enough to have forethought and to know better, so, as far as I'm concerned, society can take a flying leap. As long as I know that I'm doing nothing to hurt any-one else my life is my business. Maybe if more people concentrated of living their own lives instead of trying to live others the world wouldnt be so dog eat dog as it is today. Every one has the right to live happily, no one person or group have the right to take that away.

Of course it isn't anyone else's business. And in the real world it's merely part of the scene, nothing special, nothing to do with an invisible Bronze Age god. What matters in my world, the classical theatre, Shakespeare and all that, is the work, the art, the respect for theatre tradition--there are many men who are attracted to other men and women who are attracted to other women, but what matters is the talent, the genius if you will, which each one brings to the table. As it happens, and as I've said here before, some of the most gifted actors and actresses on the stage, in television and the movies (some of them closeted, such as Tom Whatshisname) are gay or lesbian. As a professional actor who's been on the stage for over 54 years, I say with pride that a dozen or more have been among this five-time grandfather's valued friends.

There are a lot of people out there with very strong opinions about sexual orientation that feel that they have to force it down other peoples throats... it's just their opinion... (or their programming depending on the situation).

For some reason, these people seem to be hell bent on saving others' souls or something... and can't seem to realise that people make their own decisions in life, and are thus the ones responsible for the outcomes of those decisions.

OOoo, here's an even better question... has anyone ever changed their sexual orientation due to someone expressing their very strong opinion about how wrong they think it is?

People judge, not much we can really do about it.

People believe that they "know" some really amazing things. As I was just answering a teens question about meditation, a "simple man of god" spewed his answer that transcendental meditation was full of danger, and that you had to use spirit guides...more fear based blather. But stated as pure fact. Has he studied TM? I think not, based on his statements.

So, try to give up looking for sane answers here about sexual orientation. Not because there aren't reasonable people-they are. But the ones who will flock (like that? ; ) ) to answer you are the ones who want to hear themselves howl about sin, damnation and all that crap. You have to be content with knowing yourself that is certainly no ones business, and there is no issue expect for those who would make it so.

If homosexuality were genetic, then it would have died off centuries, if not thousands of years, ago. Unless I misunderstand how homosexuality works, there should be no offspring to pass this genetic condition along to. To be blunt, the vast majority of the homosexuals in the world are that way because they choose to be. I know not everyone will agree with this, and that's ok too.

This really has no bearing on it being anyone else's concern. Prepare yourself to explain your behavior to God (and this applies to everyone, not just gay people) and face His judgement. Otherwise, it's not my place to judge your personal (and private) actions. Public activities are another matter completely, just keep that in mind.

Me? I don't give a monkey's. Live and let live, I say.

I have a Christian friend who says that it is in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin.

I've never seen it, not that I've ever looked that hard - does anyone know if it is in there and where?

If it is in the Bible, it wouldn't change my opinion, but it would account for why so many people want to make it their business.

ain't noooooooooobody's business except for who you are in bed with! And forget about Christians coming up with a cogent explanation for why they think it is their business. The best you will get is that it is god's will or the bible says so or other silly nonsense. They can't seem to help it.

I'd quit wishing for a good explanation. Such doesn't exist, and sometimes you have to accept the fact that they are gonna think what they are gonna think.

I dont think you can just dismiss it or anything else really with its nobodys business. A husband cheating on his wife may be nobodys business but it is relevant to everyone because its a human issue that we all have opinions on. People are at least entitled to their own opinions and have the ability to speak about things. If you tell everyone you are not allowed to question anyones lifestyles or choices thats quite a limitation on freedom of thought and speech.

I've been trying to figure this out for years.

I mean, if it's really that big of a deal, why doesn't someone just bust down my friend's door and physically remove his penis from his boyfriend's . . .

Well, you get the picture. And if the ridiculousness of that mental image doesn't make you laugh, you're a part of the problem.

The only thing that makes sexual orientation anyone else's business is that it helps knowing who to hit on when you're looking for a partner. :)
