Hey guys
i've been training for my next cross country season and a 10 k race i'll be doing in a month. Many times I end up doing a mile in the morning, 2 miles later in the day, and 2 miles at night. although i also do long runs, is their any running problems that come from running multiple times through the course of a day?

No, this won't be a problem, but you might want to do some interval training, and some sprint work sometime in there too. If all you do is run long distance your body gets very good at running long and slow.

Okay, what's your goal? Personally, I don't think multiple workouts each day are helpful compared to 1 workout.

Reason??? Because your body never gets a chance to heal the muscles that get used during running. Your body has constant stress 3 times a day. Plus, unless you are already an elite runner, 1, 2, and 2 just ain't the same as doing 5. Trust me on this one, it's partly mental.

PS. If you are an elite runner and world or national records are a goal for you, disregard my comments and go for it.

Good Luck

Well, you might want to shorten it down to 2 workouts a day because you don't want to wear yourself out and one mile isn't very much at all for a workout! You should try doing 3 miles in the morniing and 2 miles at night....it still gives you the same mileage and will probably help you improve more! Good luck!

No from my current perspective, I believe that no problems will arise. My reasoning is such that multiple running will only improve your stamina, speed, strenght and endurance. Will have no negative effects whatsoever.

Keep up the good work dude and you'll be an amazing runner!
