I drive approx. 50 miles one way to work into a bordering state. I return home each night. Can i claim these miles driven on my tax return?

Unfortunately, you cannot claim mileage to and from work. You can only claim mileage if you are required to travel for work. For example, if you drive to one office and then have to drive to another office, you can write off the mileage from office one to office two. You cannot write off the mileage from home to office one or from office two to home.

No, those are commuting miles and aren't deductible.

you can't deduct milage from home to work; but if you have a part time job the same day, then yes because, it'll be from work to work.
