One of our local bakeries makes frosted sugar cookies with what looks like a large pawprint on them (in different-colored frosting)
Something like that would probably go over well, so cute!

This may sound strange, but the vets at the place I went to were in serious need of spare towels. It was a military vet that got little government funding, unlike civilian vets, but they always wanted thank yous to be something that the office could use. But I also like the ideas of baked goods and personalized cards from your dog and your kids. I really like the ones that say to print "Thank you for saving my life".
You could also donate cash in their names to a local shelter?

The best "tip" you can give your vet is to send all your friends to him with high recommendations. And say "Thank you" every time you see him. The treats will go a long ways, too, but the vet will truly appreciate the referrals.

have you considered buying a plan mug and some special dinner ware paint and making a "best vet ever" mug or framing a picture of your dog with a banner "I owe you my life" to put up in the office? either would be a self-esteem boost for the vet and would probably put other pet owners at ease when they come in and see that some one else really vouches for this vet

jsut an idea at several Kroger stores tehy can put a picture and put it on a cake. Take a picture of your pet and take to Krogers adn tehy can somehow put it on a cake.
I would also make a card and put the dogs pawprints on it and say tahtnks for saving my life like it's from hr.

Bake people treats! Get a dog bone cookie cutter (doggie bakeries have them), and make peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip, etc. Put it in a basket or a dog treat dish. Vets offices rarely get yummy treats.
Just be sure to tell them that these are people treats and contain chocolate :)

We really appreciate a card, but it doesn't hurt to send some baked goods with it! :) I'm glad you got such good care from your vet and staff.

Oh thank godness they saved her!! Take a bone or some kinda dog toy and tie a ribbon around it write in it and thank her, then sign it with scooters name and pawprint(dip it in ink,) Cute huh? That would let her know how thankful you are,but also how thankful Scooter was that she saved her.

They were just doing their job and a card should be enough to show your appreciation. Since you don't think it is, how about a bouquet of flowers for the front desk?
