I had a judgment against me for a school fee by my university in 05.

I got the lifting/removal letter from my uni and the court house saying that it was paid and satisfied.

I've disputed this with the credit companies and they don't remove it-they only list it as satisfied.

Are they supposed to move it or no?

Thanks!

Sorry to tell you, but legally, a public record will be retained in your credit file fo 7 yeas after it is satisfied.

I recommend:
1) The only thing you can do is to wait. It will hurt your credit score, but will weigh less and less over time.

2) What you may want to do is to make sure you have a few credit card/lines and that you are never late in paying them. Also, use less than 20% of the available credit. The strength in your recent payment history will move your score up over time and you will be able to qualify for better rates on loans.

Good luck!

Judgments age off your credit report in 7 years or the state statutory max, which ever is better. Renewal of a judgment does no longer enlarge the reporting era, nor does it mattter no matter if chuffed or no longer. Judgments in manhattan are reliable for two decades. it really is how lengthy a judgment might want to stay to inform the tale your credit report -- paid or no longer. that's probably that the credit bureau might want to remove the judgment after 7 years. they many times do rather of the longer state statutory max.

Sorry to say no they are not required to remove it.

Judgments even if they are paid still show on your credit report for 7-years. in the public records section.

No. They will still show up as paid off, but will remain on your report for 7 years.

No they don't remove it for 7 years. But it shows as "PAID". That also helps if a lender is evaluating you credit for a loan.

it depends when the judgement was satisfied. if it was paid before the judgement was placed, then they need to remove it because the error was on their part for not updating their records before placing the judgement. otherwise, its a legal record and it says.
