is it normal for a 60 year old to....?

Question

my dad is in his 60's and he recently started to talk to himself and mumble alone..

he's happily married to my mum and im sure about that.but we do have money issues..

is this normal for a man his age or should i be worried?

it would be embaressing to talk to him about it, and offending to ask him to see a shrink.

i tried to listen but i cant seem to know what he says

at 60 it is not normal to mumble unless he has been doing this all his life. In today s society, 60 is not old. Try to encourage him to get into more activities or join a club so he will interact with other people his age. Perhaps you could talk to your mom about this and see if she is concerned

At his age, your dad may be experiencing a decline in his hearing. He may not realize that anyone can hear him talk to himself, because he cannot hear himself. Unless there are other problems, I don't think you need to worry about a shrink.
Of course, he may have just decided that he is old enough not to worry about what others think and has always talked to himself where others cannot hear!

Everyone is different if you feel theres a real health problem he needs to see his doctor

I'm 36 and i mumble and talk to myself all the time but then i'm almost crazy =)

your dad may have had a small stroke. I'm his age and I do not mumble. You might have your mum try and talk him into seeing a doctor. good luck

Hello. Im 65 and lately my wife has caught me talking to myself while I'm alone,, like in the bathroom.. I, infact am unaware of it.. I guess its normal lol..

Some peole spend their entire lives talking to themselves. It doesn't sound like a problem to me.
