If you believed in nothing would you be happy. You are living a life that has an end and nothing more. Once you die that's it is. Atheist don't believe in after life.

this is a gross over simplification and generalization. While it is true statistically that many non-beleivers suffer from depression, when comparing statistics as they are spread evenly over the population, it shows that there are far more depressed religious people. (IE: saying that 10% of the atheist population is depressed vs only 2% of the Christian population is misleading...there are few atheists in America, but many many Christians. 2% of 20 million is far more than 10% of 1 million. Capice?)

However, if you demand a response, I would say that religious might be less depressed than the non-religious not due to God being real, but being due to the support structure that goes along with belief systems. Think about it...as a homeless atheist, there isnt anyone out there that will assist or support you (without wanting to subject you to hearing about Jesus). But, as a homeless Christian, you have much support.

Here's what this atheist believes:

I believe in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the rule of law.

I believe we are smart enough not to blow ourselves up.

I believe we will eventually outgrow our need for our elaborate mythologies, and base our knowledge on science, logic and reason. I also believe I won't live to see it. Of course, as long as there are men who feel the need to control the behaviors of other men, and who lust for power, we will have religions. They make convenient vehicles for control.

1. Atheists don't believe in "nothing"; they just don't believe in fairy tales.
2. How do YOU know that atheists are less happy than those who believe in a God? You know their feelings? Have you ever actually heard an atheist say they are not happy?

I agree. I think everyone believes in something -- even if it's as trivial as believing that the chair won't collapse when they sit in it. Even though I don't believe in the existence of god, doesn't mean I don't believe other things.

I can assure you that you are most wrong, where did you get this from? If anything, atheists are probably happier because they don't NEED to belief in something to give their lives meaning.

This atheist learned to be happy after admitting to herself that she didn't believe in God.

Nihilists believe in nothing. Atheists only don't believe in any god.
