Really in my opinion, bread is really the best overall around the house carp bait. If they are eating bait towards the top (like leaves or anything) then take a piece of crust off of the bread (not TOO big were the carp can't eat it whole) and cast out as far as you can (try finding bread that floats) and if the carp is far out then as I said before find bread that floats and throw it out by just tearing the bread into pieces. Or if the carp is Little bit out further then then roll up the bread into alittle dough ball (NOT with your palms) use your index finger and thumb and put it and hide it on the hook. don't cast out but just leave the dough ball in the water for a few seconds until its like a solid bouncy ball and then when you think its tough enough to stay on then cast out. occasionally you will catch a catfish the dough ball too.

Or I have heard that a few people have used corn too. haven't tried the theory yet but I'm sure you'll catch something with it.

Good Fishin! <*))))><

I have been using bread in my area to catch carp . But I used to make a dough out of 2 cans of creamed sweet corn , flour , wheat germ and some anise oil . Not much anise just enough to smell it slightly in the dough.

Open the 2 cans of corn and add a little bit of the flour and wheat germ to the corn till you get the right consistency of dough. I use no water in this just the creamed corn. After the dough is made mix in a dash of the anise oil into it.

I have caught carp and an ocassional catfish off that dough recipe

Use white bread(crust removed) 1 egg, a couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract, and water to the correct firmness. Mix this up and make dough ball to fish with. Works great in TX, La., AZ. for catching carp.

Set some chicken livers out in the sun for awhile.

Or my personal favorite is to just use a glob of nightcrawlers. We only catch Channel Catfish up here though.
