Internet Explorer 7 is a basic browser that doesn't really excel in anything but compatibility, pretty much every website in the world works with it. Firefox is slightly faster and far more secure/ robust in features, although you might find it a little complicated if you just want a simple browsing experience. I personally have not tried Opera, but it seems to be on the same lines as Firefox, having lots of features and probably not the simplest. In my experience, the new Safari 3 Beta is the fastest browser on windows right now, its fast and simple, but also has far less features than Firefox and Opera. Also, be aware that Safari is still in beta, so there are still some glaring security issues that need to be addressed. I personally use Firefox because its a good mix of security, features, and speed but what is best for you is totally based on personal preference. Happy browsing!

Personally, I love Firefox. I know you said it was lacking in some things, but there are add-ins for Firefox that may fix that, depending on what you want. The site listed below is loaded with add-ins. Look through and see if any of them give you what you are looking for. If none of those work, you could try Netscape Navigator, although I don't like it because it is very cluttered with junk. There is also one called Avant browser, although I have never used it, so I can't really comment on it. One of the sites below has a bunch of free web browsers you might want to look into. I hope this helps.

Depends on how good your Internet speed is, also the speed of the PC - its hard to define exactly what will give you better performance.
I found Firefox ran better than the Windows IE6 / 7, but I use a 3Ghz 64 bit CPU.
Does it download fast ?? try a test download from a site and note the download speed.
Also proper configuration of the TCP settings will improve the PC when using the internet.

I like Firefox better than IE7, but you might look at Safari when it becomes available.
In most cases the speed of the browser will depend upon your Internet connection more than anything else. Well, and make sure you've scanned for spyware/adware- that would certainly slow you down.

I think that both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox are great internet browsers! Internet Explorer 7 is much nicer to use and you can even save targets. But on Mozilla Firefox you can add more add-ons and never worry about loosing all your pages. They will all save, even if your PC freezes and you'll have to restart.
Anyway, I recommend Internet Explorer 7 because it's much quicker and easier to use. Hope that helps =D

Firefox if you like a streamlined browser, Opera if you like a more full-featured browser.....unless you're a Mac user in which case you should thank God for giving you Safari.

safari, and now it's available for the PC.
seamonkey is also good..
and besides the only "speed" function your browser has it the amount of time it takes to boot up. The browser has very little to do w/ "internet speed" or the amount of time it takes a website to load up..

Firefox is both faster and more secure than IE. It will work for most sites out there.
