Question bout Chihuahua...?

well my chihuahua weights 3 pounds, she is 1 year 6 months old. Ever since, shes had problems where she chokes, breathing problems, Panting bad, her body shakes, like shes choking. What is wrong with her? My other dog doesnt do this, nor have i seen it normal.

The vet told me that it was normal. I have a chihuahua as well. But, she is a little larger - 10lbs. And yes she is full blood. She has papers and all. She is just a big girl. Anyways, the vet told me that the wind pipe on a Chihuahua and most other small dogs are paper thin. When the dog gets excited, nervous etc. the windpipe will collapse and stick together. It is nothing to worry about. It just sounds horrible. My sister has one as well. He weighs 3 lbs. He does the same thing. Hope this helps you out.

It sounds like what is called reverse sneezing. It is common is chihuahuas. Talk to her calmly when it happens and lightly rub down on the throat. Down, not up. It usually calms them and they will stop pretty qickly. Nothing to worry about.

Most chihuahuas shake and many do the backward breathing thing. Your vet can check yours, but she is probably fine.

I would have her taken to teh vets it could be asthma or possilby sugar drops ( if so this can kill her if not treated)
Or it could be a number of other things again needs a vet to determine the problem.

ive seen it in pugs because they have such a small wind pipe but you should take it to the vet
