What do you think about this?
I was just wondering.... I have a friend who was my former teacher and ever since the semester ended, we have talked through email all the time. We have also gone to lunch a couple of times since then. She is pregnant and married. She told me to call her by her first name by implying she wants to be friends and she actually got me and my b/f started on a hobby that her and her husband do. Well anyway.. I think she she is a really good person and I would really like our friendshipto progress into where we become better friends as in that I mean talking on the phone and visiting each other at our houses and stuff like that. Well I am unsure if she wants to be friends like I do but I guess time will tell. I am planning on asking her if it were ok if I brought a meal to her house after the baby is born for her and her husband but I dont know what she would say. Does it seem like if i kept on.. we might become good friends? i need more answers

Friendships take time to develop and can't be rushed. You and your former teacher sound like you are well on your way to becoming good friends. Call her from time to time and let her know that you are interested in her life and tell her about yours.

no need to ask her if you can bring a gift or meal after the baby comes. just do it. it would be weird if you asked first. that sounds like something the student would ask the teacher. that's not what you are anymore. you're friends.don't stay long when you bring it. just long enough to say hi and see the babe.
as far as your friendship growing, you're right. time will tell. friendships just happen. remember, she'll have a little one to care for now so time out for herself will be minimal for a while but, that doesn't mean you can't call and ask her to lunch or maybe a little shopping someday. all you have to do is call her. if she wants to go, she will.
