I had my first boyfriend in kindergarten. I shared him with my best friend Sam. I kissed him on the cheek!! The kissing and stuff, unfortunately is not new. I don't recall the boys in school every calling the girls 'hot' but it is the new word for 'pretty' or 'cute' in younger guys. My best guess is this little boy probably has and older sibling/friend/cousin that uses that word. My friends daughter is also in grade 1 and she came home after the first few weeks in school and told her mom a boy in her class kissed her on the swings! I would just tell your daughter pretty much what you just said. She's too young - and maybe that you only kiss people who are really special to you and who you've known for a very long time. Don't worry though - in a year or two the boys will realize the girls have cooties, and you'll be ok for a few years!

Ever heard of the Constitution? Declaration of Independence? Emancipation Proclamation?

Ummmm a high school graduate at age 30 might explain many things.

Yeah that is just as bad as Jay Leno interviewing public high school seniors and their teachers who do not know who the First President of the United States was? or How many states are in the United States? or Have no idea what the Pledge of Allegiance is much less the words of it? Do not know what the USA National Anthem is?

Imagine....there is a country FULL of these public schools.
Now THAT is frightening.

Government has standard tests that all students in the United States must take before they receive passing in any grade, much less graduate.

However, here in Wisconsin, there are many cultures whom bypass a lot of different "laws" the state has and have their own schools....whether they actually "graduate" with State approvals I do not know.

Since the man is around 30 years of age, I would say he passed under the wire when the government started really getting involved with standards for all.

Peace be with you :)

It must have been a Catholic school. I went to Catholic school and learned all of the basics besides Christianity.

Christian schools are private and not at all funded by the government so they do not have governmental guidelines as far as schooling goes, but your friend did learn math, writing, reading and the basics. Probably just not as often or as much as everyone else.

If you're talking about private schooling, or homeschooling, I've been told that they can teach whatever they wish, as long as the students are able to pass state-issued testing requirements. There are also certain curricular requirements to be observed. I don't know where you're located, but where I'm at, there are certain types of tests that all students must pass, and that includes mathematics and the sciences.

Hey - in Africa, some leader was going around telling the poor that they could prevent AIDS with a green drink and two bananas - no lie.

there is no accounting for what people will believe. Lack of formal education is a cause, but not THE cause. Even intelligent people believe weird things...

You should give all the appropriate information to an Attorney. There are many branches of the law that would take this case for free just because of the publicity.

You may be thinking of bible schools, which are schools for adults to really get to know the bible and get excellent teaching. That does not in any way replace normal education.

Most Christian schools are good. Obviously a few have slipped through the cracks.
