If gas was $12 a gallon for regular unleaded, would you consider riding a Motorcycle that gets between 50 to 101 miles per gallon? Would this be good for people in the long run?

I ride right now at 3+ a gallon. I can average over 50 miles a gallon if I do not lay on the throttle too hard. May be a good idea to think about it now before it becomes that high; the price of motorcycles will then rise due to demand. Plus you get to wear leather!

Yesterday, the Saudi government foiled a plot to blow up oil rigs, and assasinate government officials. Oil went up several dollars a gallon. Just be glad that we have raised the awareness of the world to the threat of terrorism. If they had been sucessful in Saudi Arabia, oil prices would skyrocket. Not to mention that gas prices will also go up with the summer driving season. My guess would be about 3.50 for regunleaded. There is a gas station near olrlando international airport that already has gas for more than four dollars a gallon.

I ride an electric bicycle back and forth to work, and for some errands. It doesn't go as fast as a motorcycle, but I pass EVERY gas station.

Al M made a good point: Solar charged, battery operated electric vehicles are not only feasible, they're available now.

I would expect much higher miles per gallon than you stated.

New cars are supposed to get 35-40 mpg right now, hybrids get 50 or more.

When I drove a motot scooter years ago, it got better than 250 mpg

In the long run we need to get off our dependency not just on Middle Eastern Oil imports, but oil period.

Would you drive a solar powered vehicle if all the energy it needed to run could come from the sky? It could have a battery to store up sunlight to drive at nite.

No. I have a 40+ mile commute one way on a crowded highway. Drivers are nuts. There's no way I'd ride a motorcycle. I'd consider a different job or a smaller car first.

You bet! It would be cheaper than driving my car (45-50 mpg > 23 mpg).

Sure I would. I own three motorcycles.

To help other people, perhaps I could rent one.
