I have to respect others no matter how hard it may be. Then I have to tolerate others on the other hand. Then sometimes if I am around that person that keeps pushing my tolerance level the person takes advantage of me. I am underestimated in other words by the other person. Then the person will start a big argument with them self. Because, I will not feed into it. Then that person get's madder and madder. I have to walk off.

Yes. At work, there are some people I don't respect at all. However, I have to work with them to get my job done, so I do tolerate them.

Respect is more along the lines of adoration or wanting to be more like whatever it is.

Tolerance is being an adult and realizing not everything out there is how you expect it to be or want it to be.

So when people say "I respect your opinion", I think they really mean "I tolerate your opinion". However, "I tolerate" sounds kind of condescending. lol

Respect is total submission to the fact that someone else may be right. Tolerance is just tolerating someone elses point of view.

I think of respect as having high regard for someone/something. Tolerance is being patient with someone/something.

I think so.

To tolerate someone means that, while you may not like them, you put up with them. We don't necessarily have to be talking about people here, it can be situations also.

Respect shows a bit of admiration for the person whom it is you may be tolerating.

Acceptance is to do just that, with no strings attached.
