John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.
God was the self-speaking Word. Asking what happened before the Word was spoken is about as useful as asking what happened before the Big Bang.

There's nothing age-old about illogical questions. This is the same as asking if God can make a rock big enough that he cannot move it.
At best, it challenges God's omnipotence. At worst, it undermines his existence.
First, there is a problem with the premise of the question. While it is true that God can do anything that is consistent with His nature, it is absurd to suggest he can do everything. God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18); he cannot be tempted (James 1:13); and he cannot cease to exist (Psalm 102:25-27); God is Alpha and Omega, He had no beginning and he will have no end (Revelation 1:8); therefore, no one made God.
Furthermore, just as it is impossible to make a one-sided triangle, so it is impossible to make a rock too heavy to be moved, and it is impossible to "make" God. What an all-powerful God can create, he can obviously move. Put another way, God can do everything that is logically possible. It is not logically possible to "make" God.
Finally, we should note that a wide variety of similar questions are raised to undermine the Christian view of God. Thus, it is crucial that we learn to question the question rather than assuming the question is valid.
This question is not valid, and it wasn't until the last century or so that this degree of ignorance and irreverence for a Holy God entered mankind.

God created our time-space universe, therefore, since God created time, God is timeless/eternal and since God created space, God is infinite.
Therefore, God didn't require a beginning unlike everything our universe. God has always existed in a "dimension" with no time or space.
It is hard for our finite minds to grasp, but with faith, we know that God is the creator of all things.
need to read in Bible.

The bigger god in that other parralell dimension and a bigger god in another higher planes of reality made that other god that made out god and so forth. (By god I mean whatever allowed everything to exist {Christian god, the big bang, giant monkeyman, ect})
