I'm shooting for a medium wood tone.

Red, yellow and blue are the primary colors--all other colors come from them (green is blue and yellow mixed together). Mixed all together they make brown. You would have to add some white to get a light brown.

You are probably hoping for a more sophisticated answer, but mix them all together! No, seriously. The only way to learn about color mixing is to experiment.

red and green will get you a brown colour. for true.
