i would use a community center for the wedding and reception b/c they are usually large. The one I'm using even has a stage w/a microphone and amp for us to use and they provide all the table's and chairs. Go to http://www.orientaltrading.com they have a ton of wedding things and they will even send you a wedding catalogue. Their stuff is really inexpensive. You can have a friend make your cake. Wal-mart even does really nice wedding cakes. You can get one to feed 118 people for about 140 dollars. Make everything you can yourself. Also, take frequent trips to dollar tree. They have great vases you can use for centerpieces and you can just put 1 rose or cala lillie in each one and it will look very elegant. You can even make your own bouquets. If you live near a hobby lobby, they have sales on all of their wedding stuff sometimes where it is all half off. They usually have it the same time they have their floral stems half off. So you can save a ton of money there. They have ribbon and stuff there you can use too. Just really shop around and try to find the best prices on stuff.

It all depends on what parts are really important to you. My dress was important to me... so I spent the most on it and cut costs on everything else.
Have you sent invitations? You could definitely make your own with a print at home kit or grab the scissors and get crafty.
Instead of a cake I'm having a cupcake tier. Super cute, cheap, and no cake cutting fees! If possible enlist a friend/family member to bake the cake for you.
A cheap decoration that looks classic is of course candles. Pillars, not tapers. Cluster them together on some round mirrors for a very pretty centerpiece. Mirrors can be found at any craft store.
Daytime weddings cost less than evening. Buffets cost less than sit downs.
I would grab some ideas at places like marthastewart.com in the wedding section. Good luck!

OOHH I know what you're talking about!
I aslo had to work on a budget.
Ok first thing's first.
Keep the guest list short and sweet.
NO KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (can't stress that enough)
Only close family and friends.
If you attend a church, and you've been going there for years,
you have a good realtionship with the minister you can probably get to have your wedding there plus the reception if they have a room. (I did that when I got married didn't have to pay a cent). Or if you have a really nice back yard or one of your friends does, consider doing it there.

Go with simple floral center pieces. (you don't need anything fancy)

Decorations: I used white chirstmas lights around the room with sage and cream veil. Ask your family for the Christmas lights but make sure to know who's is who's to return them later.
Food: Try shopping at costco for bulks of salad and other ingredients you'll be serving. That's if you're not having your food catered. But my suggestion is to have it catered by someone. There are places that have reasonable prices for catering portions and you can do a buffet style with out the waiters. Just make sure you have someone preferably unknown to help out withthe food refill on the trays. ( you might want to go to your favorite restaurant and ask you favorite server if they would like to make $100 bucks for say 2 hours or the amount of time you'll have the food out. They should take care of all the food items. Make sure he/she is reliable and a good server. Otherwise ask the manager for advice about the person.
If you need anymore help e-mail me alh725@yahoo.com
Good Luck and Congrats

You have the big idea honey. DIY all the way.

You'll need to narrow down what part of the wedding you are looking to do a project for and what the colors themes are before we can give you ideas. There are thousands of DIY projects in every category from invites to centerpieces so its hard to just pluck the ones you need out of thin air.

I would extend your wedding date. A month and a half isn't much time to plan for a wedding at all much less do projects and you are going to pay alot more if you are booking last minute.

When my husband and I got married, we were low on money too. We ended up getting married by the Justice of the Peace (Judge @ Courthouse). That was about $200.00. A week later, we had our reception. It was a backyard BBQ. My suggestion....go with the courthouse, but do something nice for the reception.

Try doing it at a local state park and have a barbecue right onsite. That's what? Less than $500? ..I'm having my ceremony at a local park for $15 but then chose to do the rest at Dave & Busters for another $2000.

Elope to Vegas.

Do it yourself. I have hundreds of ideas for this as this is what I did.

Have it in someone's back yard where you can have the reception, too. The reception can be as simple as cake and sparkling cider or punch.
